Regardless of their place in the family, being a positive male influence in a child's life is a big job and men have more power in family settings then they sometimes realize. When most guys think of power, they usually assume it comes with their income, physical strength or negotiating skills.
That might be their own personal scale, but there are other areas of power which aren't as tapped in to as much as they should be, and it's because they don't always know how to do it.
Mothers... we sometimes have it easy. Most of us were born with some sort of natural ability to nurture and bond with children. But men don't always have this right away (if ever).
The truth is though, the male role models in families can:
- Build boys into smart, responsible, honorable men, teaching them work ethic and treatment of others
- Encourage girls to become strong, intelligent, respectable women
- Improve present and future family relationships by modeling value and character which to live by (little eyes are watching)
- Help they're family to feel safe, secure and loved
This month I will share everything 'Dad' - so Mom, keep reading, and pass these June posts on to that special man in your life who you'd like to give some hints to (but who doesn't appreciate getting hit over the head with it- wink wink).
Thank you!
Thank you!
